Dental Hygienist

Responsibilities:

Provides patient screening procedures: assessment of oral health conditions, review health history, oral cancer screening, head and neck inspection, dental charting and taking vitals.

Maintains and enters into the electronic dental records (EDR) and digital imaging.

Takes digital diagnostic xrays.

Removes calculus and plaque (hard and soft deposits) from all surfaces of the teeth.

Applies preventive materials to the teeth (e. g. sealants and fluorides).

Teaches patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health.

Performs documentation for quality standards and office management activities.

Inquiresabout the patient s medical history and takesblood pressure and pulse.

Servesas the infection control officer, prepares and sterilizesinstruments and equipment.

Interactswith patients to help feel at ease before, during and after dental treatment.

Providespatients with instructions for oral care pre and post treatment.

Teachespatients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain optimum oral health (e. g. brushing, flossing, counseling, good nutrition and tobacco cessation).

Takesimpressions of patients teeth for casts (models of teeth).

Maintains data integrity in the system for all patients.

Helpsprovide direct patient care in all dental specialties.

Addresses all expanded duty functions as allowed by law.

Qualifications

Education:

High school or GED required. Training from an accredited Dental Hygiene Programand expanded duties training certification preferred. Bilingual in Spanish and/or Creole preferred.

Experience:

Minimum three (3) years experience, preferably in private/public sector dentistry.

Certification:

CurrentBasic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Licensure:

Current Florida RDH license

Registrations:

N/A

Training:

Expanded duties training, cross trained skills front to back preferred.



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
