Specialized Equipment Mechanic/Operator

Under the direction and guidance of the Harvest Supervisor (Celery/Radish/Corn), the Specialized Equipment Mechanic/Operator will be fully responsible for all food processing equipment. This hands-on position includes, but is not limited to, printers, band sealers, radish bag machines, saw (corn line), Ulma wrap machine, label applicator, optical sorters, and metal detectors. The Specialized Equipment Mechanic/Operator will provide maintenance support for the production department and perform scheduled preventative maintenance and work orders, rebuilds, and related repairs on manufacturing (food processing) equipment. This role will also maintain a daily record of time and parts involved with assignments

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Follows all GMP s and work in a manner consistent with all corporate and regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements. Ensure that company policies and procedures are being followed in a consistent manner.
  • Supports startups, shut downs, product changes. Responsible for line trouble shooting, problem solving, preventative maintenance, clearing jams, and cleaning & sanitation of all equipment assigned. Partner with Supervisor on a daily basis to review operations and activities within the department. Verify daily run time and production hours. With the specialized equipment, the job requires communication with machine/equipment manufacturers, packaging department, and maintenance department.
  • Overnight travel may be required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High School Diploma Required
  • Five or more years in vegetable and/or food-related equipment maintenance.

Work Environment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to air conditioning and is often exposed to cold temperatures and heat when visiting plant locations. The employee will be working at a plant location where the use of chemical substances is present and used in the processing plant. May participate in safety inspections in on/off-sight locations, which are located both in a warehouse and administrative office environment. Employee's work is also subject to the pressures of time constraints and deadlines. The noise level in the work environment is normally low to moderate, high if the individual enters the food plant.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
